Arampatzi Anna

Anna Arampatzi is a Sociologist and a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of the Aegean. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of the Aegean and an MSc in Sociology from Panteion University. Grounded in political sociology and empirical social research, her doctoral research examines local government social policies and welfare institutions, focusing on the organization of foundational welfare structures in the Municipality of Thessaloniki. Her research interests include housing precarity, homelessness, urban marginality, migration crises, social policy, and the transformation of social protection systems. She has extensive experience in qualitative field research across urban and border settings, having worked as a researcher and sociologist with the Urban Resilience Observatory and the Directorate of Social Protection of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Greek Asylum Service, and humanitarian NGOs during the migration crisis. Her research combines semi-structured interviewing, ethnographic fieldwork, archival research, and the analysis of social institutions to examine institutional responses to social inequality and vulnerability.
